Some noteworthy achievements of the Horse Tales Literacy Project (formerly The Black Stallion Literacy Foundation):
- Implementation and expansion of After School and Summer Camp Programs to supplement our two core School-based Programs. Expansion of services to Gulf Coast and Southeastern states.
- Distribution of Little Black, A Pony, beautifully illustrated with Navajo adaptation and translation, along with program materials, to every elementary school in the Navajo Nation.
- Refinement and implementation of safety protocols with a DVD specially-designed for use in the field.
- Development of new interactive and functional website, improving business operations, enrollment and communication among schools, community organizations, staff and volunteers.
- Development of a national database of volunteers, donors and funders.
- Refinement of the program curricula, ensuring that all programs meet both state and national standards.
- Alignment of our curricula with new national Core Curriculum Standards in Reading.
