4th-5th Grade Program Information
Horse Tales Literacy Project currently offers its 4th-5th Grade Program in the following states:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, and Texas ~ as well as Alberta, Canada.
Cost to Participating Schools: $10.00 per student. Horse Tales Literacy Project matches this amount by more than $10.00 per student to make the program possible. [If you are located outside the lower 48 United States, please contact us for the cost per student in your location.]
The per-student cost includes:
- A copy of Walter Farley’s The Black Stallion for each student’s personal library (we cannot guarantee either hardcover or softcover).
- A copy of Hoof Prints, Horse Tale Literacy Project’s newsletter designed just for kids.
- A parent letter.
- A copy of the award-winning video of "The Black Stallion" [one per school].
- An extensive standards-aligned curriculum and other relevant resources.
- Teacher training materials.
- Extensive resources on the HTLP website for both teachers and students.
- Teacher access to the password protected Program Resources area of the HTLP website.
- A live equine experience for students. [Transportation costs are not included.]
